Dear CAR Member,

Just a few weeks ago, CAR wrapped up another successful REimagine! Conference and Expo held in downtown Los Angeles for the first time. More than 7,000 of you took part in packed educational sessions and sold-out luncheons. The conference kicked off on Tuesday with Masterclass, a paid day of targeted content covering social media, transaction coordination, RPA training as well as a Broker Conference and YPN Ignite session. On Wednesday, chief economists from Zillow and Redfin discussed what’s on the horizon for California real estate, and C.A.R. CEO Joel Singer explored future industry trends during his keynote luncheon address. On Thursday, attendees received actionable advice on how to survive and thrive in a shifting market, and C.A.R. Chief Economist Leslie Appleton-Young delivered her perennially popular 2020 California Housing Market Forecast during her keynote luncheon presentation. If you missed all the excitement this year, start making plans for next year’s Expo in Long Beach.

As Leslie mentioned in her forecast presentation, “there is no such thing as a bad market. Markets go up and down. Plan for it and you will succeed.” With that thought in mind, have you taken the steps to plan for a shifting market? If you’re located in Southern California, you can get the tools to educate renters, prospective first-time buyers and clients who have had a prior foreclosure or short sale at a full-day event on November 13, 2019, in Rancho Cucamonga. The STEPS Toward Homeownership Conference will give you relevant information about credit scores, financial planning, leveraging down payment resources and options for low- to moderate-income earners so that you can educate your clients. You’ll walk away with the knowledge and strategies to deliver financial literacy to homeowners to-be, including helping prospective buyers on expectations about financing, down payment assistant options, and FHA vs. conventional loan programs, while bolstering your referral pipeline in the local community. Register here for STEPS Toward Homeownership Conference.

REimagine! may be over but C.A.R.’s WomanUP!® Conference is only a few days away. Building on its success over the past two years, WomanUP!® is going national this year. That’s right, we’re inviting women and men from across the country to enhance the WomanUP!® movement at the Loews Coronado Bay Resort in San Diego, October 23-25. At the event, you’ll identify tools and strategies to apply to your own business; develop skills to take your career to the next level and connect with other amazing leaders in the national brokerage community. I hope you’ll join me to support the ambitious and passionate women who are currently in or ready to step into leadership roles. Register for WomanUP!® here.

In closing, as my term as your President concludes, I want to thank each and every one of you for your active involvement with C.A.R. this year. I leave knowing you’ll remain just as involved with your 2020 Leadership Team comprised of President Jeanne Radsick, President-elect Dave Walsh, Treasurer Jennifer Branchini, and C.A.R. Chief Executive Officer Joel Singer. It has been a pleasure serving you.

Sincerely,
Jared Martin
C.A.R. President
