Last month, the CAR President addressed your concerns with “off-MLS” or “pocket” listings – a listing that an agent has obtained but does not place on the MLS.  He mentioned the numerous steps that C.A.R. has taken to help you deal with these types of listings and to educate consumers about the advantages and disadvantages of pocket listings.

He also mentioned that C.A.R. was preparing numerous communication pieces for you to use with your local media and marketing pieces.  I’m happy to provide those pieces to you here.

Here’s what’s included in the links below:

  • A template feature article that discusses the advantages and disadvantages of an off-MLS listing in which you can insert your name, affiliation, and contact information as the author, and submit to your local media.
  • A Q&A discussing the basics of off-MLS listings that you can submit to your local media.
  • An ad/flyer that you can submit to your local media or use in your own marketing materials.
  • A consumer education video that you can embed on your own website.

Technical notes:

When using the feature article and Q&A documents, remember to “save as” after you’ve inserted your personal information.

To embed the video on your website, click on the “get code” option at the bottom of the video screen.  This will give you the html code to paste on your website.

If you have any questions regarding any of these documents, don’t hesitate to contact Lotus Lou, C.A.R.’s media relations manager, at (213) 739-8304 or lotusl@car.org.

In addition, TSMLS will only accept the CAR standard Form (SEL) for listings on Waiver.
